tree house

there was a rabbit. in front of her, in the forest ground. dead. bloody. she remembered immediately why she hated to come in the places that were full of animals - because they were full of opportunities to use spirit. and she hated those.
before she could bring the little thing back to life, a fox ran towards her and stole the rabbit right in front of her nose. it was probably better this way, she thought to herself and walked on. the event stressed her more than a bit and her mind were all over the place, when she came to the arranged place. rae, one of the royal moroi, who - surprisingly - she didn't hate, was waiting for her there. she had to confess to herself that she actually kind of missed her old friend. "oh, i'm afraid that would be completely possible. you know how much my orientation sucks." she smiled back at her and shrugged. "so, how are you? do you hear anything from your mother lately?"

she smiled at her and gave her a big hug. she couldn't really remember when was the last time she did that with her, but she didn't care. a talk with her friend was just what she needed. "oh, you don't have to worry about me. and i couldn't possibly wander off, you know that. there are probably two guardians following us right now - one mine and one yours. royal shit." rae brought in the other side of leonie - even though she didn't really have one. she just felt more daring and brave when she was hanging out with her. "same here. i'd starting to think that our dear mothers sent us to this academy just to get rid of us." she was joking, the same as her friend was before. she made her laugh and that's why she liked to be around her. she sat on the floor of the tree house and looked at rae with expectation in her eyes. "so... any new boys? you know i'm curious."

she shook her head a little bit when are commented her small talk about their mothers. "no... no, of course not. i know for a fact that ariana loves you more than anything." she looked at her friend with apology in her eyes, but she still kept a small smile on her face. she wanted her to make a joke about it, but she had a little confession for her. she thought it was better to not tell anyone about it, but she just couldn't hide that from rae anymore. "and i've been using spirit lately. not much, but for small thinks. my mind is not clear, so forgive me for nonsenses that i may say, like that one." she didn't want her to worry about leo's health, but she was a bit jealous because she loved her element, fire, so much and she could use it without consequences. "well, that is just true. a guy for you would really need to be a prince in a shining armor, ha?" she laughed a bit and poked her in the shoulder. "i heard you are one of the best users of fire in this academy. i always knew you were meant for great things, rae." she let her friend know that she was proud of her. even when they were just kids, she kept on telling her that.

she nodded and looked at her friend as she knew exactly what she was going trough. leonie was in the same position: royal family, parents with high expectations. but she just had to admit that rae was in the worse situation. "you can't blame her for that. she just wants the best for you - and she thinks that this means a high position for you. a lady, a queen perhaps." she was just to sweet and innocent, ready to forgive everyone on this world no matter what he did. but she was sure there was nothing to forgive, not with ariana, not with her dear rae.
"sure, i'm happy to help. but i am weak, rae. i am just too weak." it was odd for her to be so opened with somebody, but she went with it because she knew that the person she talked to is not going to tell that to anyone. everything she said was safe with her. "and i know, but i am capable of great things. it scares me a lot actually." she shrugged and forced a smile on her face. "i may just helped a little bit, but i'm sure it was mostly your talent. come on, show me what you can do," she almost bagged her.

she could tell that rae was comfortable in leo's company - perhaps too comfortable. she knew that they both had the certain distance to the royal world that they were simply born into, but honestly, she never taught about herself as a queen. doing the things her mother does, living her life... she could never do that. she could never be her. rae accidently spoke her words out loud and shocked her with them. "you know i would never pass the test and that i disagree with our system too much to lead it." she explained that to her carefully, forming every word in her head gently before she said. they talked about delicate topic and if anyone was sneaking around and listening, they could be in big trouble.
"definitely not stronger than my spirit. i showed a few things i can do to my mum and she said i wasn't supposed to be able to do that at my age. she looked like she just saw a ghost, god." she shook her head and tried to smile a little. "and fights will be exactly where we will need it," she said, letting her know that something great was about to happen. everybody could see it coming: moroi will join the fight. if not in five years, then in ten. rae di her little trick with fire and leonie smiled. she was quite surprised, actually, and more than amazed. "but... it's not burning! how the hell are you doing that?"

"rae, please!" she laughed at the taught that seemed like crazy to her. but the moroi next to her really didn't look like she was joking. "i'm glad you think so. but a sheep could never lead a pack of wolves." leonie shook her head, still doubting herself. she could never be as confident in her own abilities as her friend was in hers. "and if i do get a chance like that, you know you would be a big part of it." becoming a queen would mean that her mother would be dead. she hated to think tkat way, but rae really would be her anchor after that.
she would die if she could think about her element like that for just a few seconds. but she couldn't, just couldn’t. "i hope you're right. she had to practice everything and i was just thrown in this mess of things that i can do... things that can kill me. and i haven't found my limits yet, i don't want to find them. but... i think that i'm really selfish, rae. for keeping spirit inside of me." she shrugged and smiled at her again, raising her eyebrows a bit when she spoke again. "you will help, you will save more lives that i ever could. by killing. because that's the most effective way." she was talking about strigoi and she knew that her friend will understand her. after seeing her little trick, she nodded and, like she got the craziest idea ever, looked at her with excitement. "could you do that on me?"
